Folk that go up the pub and have 2 or 3 pints in their work lunch break
Does anyone still do this?
It used to be the norm years ago.
Probly frowned upon nowadays.

When i was working in England (so early.mid 90s) every Friday and usually once per week in addition, it was the norm.

When I've had work/business trips to Brisbane, they seem to keep it up on Friday lunchtimes, plus anywhere in Aus it seems, the beer fridge is opened 4pm or thereabouts on a Friday

Geezer in my local turns up about half 7 every night in his work suit fucking steaming then has another 8 pints.

Does it every day the piss can.

Stella drinker as well.

Won’t make old bones but I’d be interested to see what he puts away on average per day to the point where I might stalk the cunt for a day to see where he goes and what his routine is.

I’m almost certain the cunt is never sober.

Early 90's I worked for Peugeot, the mechanics drank every lunch time, some snake bite and black, then went and worked on customers cars/brakes. Was never even seen as an issue.

Good times

Folk?
OOOOOOAAARRGGHH!

Bloke in old workplace used to have 7 or 8 pints lunchtime, go back to work and you wouldn't know. No slurring nothing.
He had long legs and the bar in this pub was downstairs. The barmen saw his legs coming down the stairs and they had a pint poured for him by the time he got to the bar. Not a lot of people know that.

It's not something I would even think of doing now, but it was standard behaviour.
Just seems ODD when you think of it now.
If you worked with someone who left their desk at 1pm, went to the pub, had 4 pints, and came back at 2pm, every day, management would take a dim view of it.

Nowt wrong with it Len, i'll be popping out for lunch tomorrow, throwing back 4 pints of Stella then going back to the office.

Monday afternoons are ODD. I see a lot of folk having a lunch time pint on a monday.

i mean, SERIOUSLY?

How would they know though Len?

I work for a law firm in the city and they couldn't give a shit if I drank every lunchtime so long as I done my work.

Rarely see an empty pub around fenchurch st on any day of the week at lunchtime, people are still bang on it every day, especially the insurance mobs.

I quite like a Monday pint in London to be honest. The pubs on these days are usually full of the high flyers and senior management. You don't get your office pleb in the pub on a Monday.

Haven't worked in the UK for a while. Last time was in the city around 2011 I didn't see it. Plenty still after work.

I remember working in Holborn around 1990 for ADT and we'd regularly get smashed lunch tiles. Sometimes the MD would come in as we were heading back and tell us to stay and buy some rounds. Crazy times.

How did the post room manage a whole afternoon without you?

WEBSTER's light mild was their flagship brew, Len.

They were famous for not having a bitter as their top seller.

I don't drink while the sun's up personally.

I couldn't go for beers at lunch. I'd end up not going back to work, or home for about 3 days.
